ROBOT FIGHTING DIORAMA
In the end these two likely looking lads are going to be a diorama of two robots duelling, the two robots used are the azolba (the cream one) as used in the Mk IX and something called a zuwel (the blue one). both have been substantially modified so far but are not finished yet. The modifications are as follows. Both robots had modifications to the arms and joints to make them more pose able and in the case of the zuwel I had to cut off the sides of the torso and build new ones closer in so he could reach across his chest. both robots were lengthened by the addition of sheet plastic in the middle of the arms, that's the grey stuff you can see in the pictures.
I have just completed the diorama and will continue this page from where I left off. After getting to this stage the robots sat around for a while before I got back to them. When I did I added some sheet packing to the zuwel's torso to make him taller and puttied all the holes left in the arms. I then modified the kit heads for both robots (not shown in the first picture). Once all the components of the robots were finished I gave them all a spray with the trusty (read cheap) white knight flat white and started painting I used tamiya flat blue and J.N. grey on the zuwel and olive drab and flat brown on the azolba. While all this was going on I was giving some thought to the hands and weapons. Initially I had thought of giving them swords but decided on staffs instead. The kit hands of the azolba were very dodgy so I substituted the fist hands from the H-arms custom and made the staff out of a skewer. The zuwel hands are stock and his staff is also a skewer.

With the two robots finished I turned to the construction of a base. This is basically a piece of balsa with sand and bits of stuff stuck to it to represent ruins (as in all good anime stuff  Tokyo must have got trashed again). This was then sprayed with white knight grey and washed and dry brushed. finally the robots were posed and attached to the base. While this isn't my best model it is another imaginative use for all those panzer world gallient kits I foolishly bought.Update: (you may find this interesting) while looking around hobbylink japan I came across the panzerworld gallient series again, boy was I supprised the models they were selling make the mechs actually look really cool in a sort of gothic/medievil armour sort of style.
