untitled

Typhoon class ballistic missile submarine

I bought the typhoon because, like the T-72 it was on special and like many of my other kits because it is, in my opinion at least, the star of the film hunt for the red october (the book however is a different matter, it rocks). Although the typhoon I have is not equiped with the "catepiller' drive like the red october it is still a fearsom weapon when you consider the amount of nuclear warheads it carries. What makes the typhoon even more fearsom is that it has greater displacemant than some (french) aircraft carriers.
Anyway enough of my blabbering about the typhoon and more about the kit. This kit is a tad strange in that the hull is actually held together with screws. The only problem with this is that they are recessed into large holes which have covers provided, however the covers don't fit perfectly but as they are all in the bottom of the submarine they are difficult to see against the dark grey paint job. other than a bit of bother with the screw covers the kit was just bassically stick what the instructions tell you where they tell you then paint it. Sorry but I have no idea how I got the colour I painted it it may even be several brands mixed together (I've done craizer things before like the time I sprayed automotive enamel on humbrol under coat, very handy for a vinyl roof efect on cars but hardly polished aluminum)
