GUNDAM DEATHSCYTH HELL CUSTOM

I bought this over the net with the serpent custom at the suggestion of Mun. Mun sent me some e-mail after I posted the h-arms on starship modeller and I asked him what would be a good thing to build next? He said the Deathscyth so I got it and the serpent at really good (compared to here) prices over the net. Like the serpent this is a 1/100 scale Hg kit and uses the same multi colour plastic sprues (damn impressive even though I'll be painting them). It also comes with a figure of Duo Maxwell, the pilot.
Like the other bandai models I've made this one goes together well though due to functionality and snap together construction a few details are a bit dodgy (mostly the wings). The wings are truly huge pieces of plastic and spread out to about a foot. This along with the scyth make for a really impressive model, though the GP02a I might be acquiring is supposed to be more impressive. I started out building the wings, which have some problems. The locator pins stick through some of the pieces and have to be sanded flat and puttied. Once this was done I covered over some holes on the backpack part of the wings and then decided to do a bit of work on the "tail" part of the wings. This part is supposed to be the same as the other parts of the wings, having the vents and batlike vanes but there's only surface detail in the form of raised lines that show the outline of the vents. I attached some sheet plastic to the raised lines to make the wings look better.
The wings are now almost finished and awaiting painting. The legs are ready for painting and the torso and arms are under construction.
To be continued...
